Collection
The visiting tour presents the clothing handicraft activities (of shoemakers, hatters, tailors) and the craftmade production of glass and pottery of Gorizia region. In the museum there are objects of local production or coming from Veneto, Austria, Bohemia and England. Two showcases are dedicated to ancient chemist’s shops, with vases and boxes of XVIII and XIX century. There is also a local production of wrought irons of XIX century. The clothes collections cover a period between XVIII and XX century. One of the most precious ornament of a clothe is the "merletto a fuselli" (bobbin lace), which in the Gorizia region has a tradition that starts in 1672. The collections of gloves and handbags are really interesting. The exhibition ends with a section on the silk manufacture, with machines and samples of raw and manufactured tissue.
